Originally from Massachusetts, Peter was formally trained as an architect and practiced for 20 years in Washington, D.C.  During this time he explored the possibilities of a wide range of creative media and was represented by several galleries in the mid-Atlantic region.  Focusing on his fine-art studio since 1993, Peter has also owned and operated galleries in Washington, VA and Naples & Sarasota, FL.  His work is in private and corporate collections throughout the United States and in many countries abroad.  Peter currently resides in Sarasota, FL.

In many respects the process and the finished piece are of equal importance.  The process is never static, sometimes chaotic, and always serendipitous.  Each work develops its own momentum where every mark, every brush stroke, requires an intuitive response and all must ultimately be reconciled to the whole.  Composition, light, shadow, and texture are all essential elements that are employed throughout this process.  The constant and spontaneous manipulation of these characteristics, along with energetic brush strokes and a fresh use of color, is a source of continual fascination.  The finished works have varying degrees of visual movement and detail which draw the viewer in for a closer inspection.  Led by his own curiosity and imagination, this visual interaction takes the viewer to a time, a place, or a memory that is uniquely their own.
